I am in love with #1 Holly ;)) the moon has a stillness that tugs at me contrasting with the intense energy of the rest of the piece ... the road calls me to walk upon it ;))

Thrilled w/ yr response Kat...HUGE visceral energy pouring into the work these days but you are right the moon does add a still point in contrast to all the energy...thx for pointing it out!

Beautiful work. I like the way the individual details are receding into a composition of color and light, but still grounded in the intersubjective landscape. Not like Mondrian at all, but somehow reminds me of Mondrian anyway.

Of course, it's possible, though highly unlikely, that the only reason I like Mondrian is that he had an ancestor named Christian Dirkzoon Monderyan :-)

Interesting & astute connection to Mondrian, Dirk...as Mondrian's journey from representational painting to complete abstraction is a most fascinating story when viewed through the resulting images in a sequential manner: http://www.abcgallery.com/M/mondrian/mondrian.html
A complete breaking down and explosion of form takes place which feels very familiar, at a gut level, to me at the moment. I appreciate your intuitive awareness. ;) Is Dirkzoon a real name!?!

I'm going to have practice writing. I can't find appropriate words to use. The light on the snow, the orange to keep me focusing in and out, the sense of physical and emotional "distance" ... I really like the first one.

Holly, I love both of these. They are so different. There is wild energy in the first, which I love. The second has such placidity. Beautiful. Just beautiful.

@juliedaley Still trying to integrate those two aspects of my own being, the wild energy and the placidity...Interesting that I often paint things in pairs, these two were painted side by side. Often will paint a landscape beside a figurative painting, which also feels like two different aspects of the same Being. Thanks for your comments as they stir up some thoughts :)

I totally get that...wild energy and placidity in the same being. Wildness, for me, is part of my earthy, earthly nature...placidity comes from Spirit. Not completely linear like that, but it feels like it's pointing to something deeper.

In my eyes #1 is stunning, Holly. Such aliveness in the nested centers of "beings" in this image. Lovely ratios of shape in both horizontal and vertical dimensions. And a delicious luminosity of inner light shining as a wholeness of subtle color. Thank you!

Holly, that language is from the brilliant architect/artist Christopher Alexander. His four volume masterwork The Nature of Order and his earlier work A Pattern Language have been a deep inspiration for my artistry.

Know the books well, built and designed a home through "Pattern Languages"...synchronicites abound...need to pull those volumes out again! They once informed a great deal of my life and it would probably be a good time to revisit them. Such a pleasure to connect w/ you @thomasart
